Emerald Research to host live, on-farm review of the 2025 UK potato season on 10 December

Emerald Research will stage a live, online OptiYield 2025 Potato Farm Report & Analysis seminar on Wednesday, 10 December at 12:30 pm (UK time), bringing growers an in-season look at harvest outcomes and a frank debrief on what worked in a year marked by extreme drought and heat at times.

Event overview

Hosted by Emerald Research’s Simon Fox in a live studio format, the session will cut to two significant commercial potato farms in Pembrokeshire and South Somerset as lifting progresses. Field footage and data will anchor a discussion on practices that helped offset weather stress using Emerald’s optimised, scientifically tested approach to crop production.

Guest contributors

Former UK Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, George Eustice, will join the analysis, alongside agronomist Chris Gamble, to unpack lessons for 2026 planning—spanning agronomy choices, risk management, and where to focus investment after a season that tested crop resilience.

Why it matters

Growers across Britain have navigated a volatile 2025, with heat spikes and moisture deficits challenging tuber initiation, canopy duration, and marketable yield. This broadcast aims to translate practical in-field responses into clear takeaways for next season—what to repeat, what to drop, and what to trial—grounded in live harvest results rather than post-hoc theory.
