Cutting-Edge Agronomy Tools to Improve Crop Protection
One of the first agronomy tools available in the new Syngenta Portal is the BlightCast model, which uses the Hutton Criteria to provide a 7-day advance warning for blight infection risks. This enables growers to fine-tune their blight protection strategy and take preventative action.
QUANTIS Heat Stress Tool for Root Crops
The QUANTIS™ Heat Stress tool provides potato and sugar beet growers with a 7-day temperature forecast, highlighting risks that could impact root crops.
- QUANTIS should always be applied at tuber initiation.
- The tool helps mitigate the impact of temperature stress throughout the season.
- Advance warnings enable preventative applications at the optimum time.
BYDV Assist and Future Crop Management Features
The highly popular BYDV Assist tool will be included in the app for the upcoming autumn season.
According to Syngenta Customer Loyalty Lead, Ed Flint, this new platform will also support future cereal disease forecasting models and enhance crop management capabilities.
“Using these tools enables farmers and agronomists to foresee potential risks before they impact the crop, allowing time for appropriate preventative action,” says Flint.
Optimized Spraying and Advanced Weather Insights
The Syngenta Portal goes beyond traditional weather forecasting by integrating:
- Spray window opportunities to optimize application timing.
- Detailed weather data analysis, including rainfall, soil moisture, and soil temperature.
- Direct access to essential product labels and safety data sheets for informed decision-making.
Flint emphasizes that the new app delivers practical agronomic support by linking data insights with real-world solutions.
“It now goes one stage further by providing direct links to solutions and techniques that will help in decision-making and practical applications,” he points out.
“Using the Syngenta Portal app daily ensures growers stay up to date with the very latest agronomy information and advice.”
